links to single posts force non-members to log in
for a number of years I’ve occasionally sent a link to one of my posts by WhatsApp or text message to friends who aren’t FT members
in the past few months, pretty much every time I’ve shared a link the recipient has replied to my message saying that the link takes them to the FT front page and says they have to log in to view the post after clicking on the post number, I’ve used “Open in new window” and copied the URL to paste into the message; have also used “Share” from the dropdown inefficient workaround is to screenshot the post and send that, but occasionally there’s more than one screen worth that I’ve wanted to share non-techie speculation: something in the URL is tied to my being logged in when clicking on the post number, and that “something” persists when copying the URL thoughts? workarounds? |
Oh yeah, that's weird. OK I'll ask tech about this. Thank you

Hey, I was actually not able to replicate this issue. Logged out, I can still visit single posts

thx
probably has to do w the fact that I’m using desktop mode on iPhone :/  |
The recipients may have never been to Flyertalk and have no latent cookies etc, If IBJoel verified from a device that had cookies (even if not logged in) that could make a difference in the test perhaps.
