Is there a way to sort forums by most recent post, NOT reply?
 
Sort by post date rather than reply date.

Do you mean the date of the original post, i.e., when the thread was started?

Or are you distinguishing between posts in a thread that do or do not quote a previous post?

Have you tried clicking on the top headings of various columns in the first page of the forum?
