"[ARG:4 UNDEFINED]" Error when Liking Posts

I clicked like on this post (https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/34945340-post19.html) yesterday and it defaulted to [ARG:4 UNDEFINED] instead of showing my name. This was on my iPhone, so I just tried to unlike/relike from my laptop a minute ago and it's doing the same thing. Only appears to be on this specific post (in this thread), though I have still been seeing it happen on other posts. Didn't see a current thread about this.

It's been getting discussed for a couple of years now. Here's one thread:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tech...undefined.html

that developed into this:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tech...on-thread.html

that was just closed last week. I don't think it's going away.

It seems clear that the IT team does not get any encouragement to back out of software deployments that cause problems. As an old time IT person, we spent about as much time on our backoff procedures plans as we did implementation plans for software changes. In this time of instant gratification, no one pays much attention to defects as long as ads continue to be presented.

Haha we tried switching likes systems and everyone HATED it. So we had to back out of THAT.

Yes... Maybe it's generational but leaving bad code in my production product for customers to see and (worse) troubleshoot seems to be ok these days, or at least acceptable. Wasn't the case back in the day... at least where I worked.

Not slamming you or anyone personally, just noting the change in what is acceptable for software implementations that had happened over time.

Still happening so I guess it's just been lumped in the too hard basket?

Sometimes I can't like anything, although sometimes--but not always--reloading the page helps. Other times I get ARG4 or ARG6 and still other times when I click the like button turns to unlike, but I don't see that I've like the post. I suspect the latter phenomena occurs mostly when I'm trying to be the first one to like a post.

I don't understand the inconsistency. It's been going on for a very long time, and I sometimes suspect more in certain fora such as Hyatt but not so much in DL.

Thanks, agree sometimes it's been fine for me and others not, does not seem to matter if I am first or not to like a post.

Oh well it is what it is, I know I liked a post even if the poster did not know who it was :D

Edit: liked the post above and it seemed to work fine showing 'you' liked this post so it shall remain a mystery

Still happens from time to time for me, along with the glitch uploading photos from my phone directly into a post. Oh well.

This issue has crept back in for me. I noticed it a few months ago sporadically. Now it's happening quite frequently.

This glitch exists for several years already...
