old photos MIA
Alaska Airlines “Views from Above the Wing” thread
using Safari on iPhone opened one of my posts that originally had pix attached, clicked “Edit”, clicked “Go Advanced”, clicked “Manage Attachments”, got this seems to indicate the pix are still extant, but the code that displays them is broken https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...80f7f41d1.jpeg |
Thank you for reporting. I'll ask tech about this, although I believe it will be a lower priority

image attachments are missing from older posts
I am not sure when this occurred -- I think I actually noticed it in passing last week or two weeks ago but thought it was a one-off anomaly. However it seems that all old images of a certain vintage have effectively disappeared.
For example, this thread got bumped today -- it showed up in my subscribed threads since I had previously posted to it. However the images I posted do not appear (post #2) https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marr...er-thread.html IIRC the FT/IB code at the time had you upload the images but they were inserted into the post using the ATTACH bbcode; if I edit the post and click on the Source button they all appear as <ATTACH>50xxx</ATTACH> (but with square brackets instead of angle brackets and whatever number in the 50,xxx range) when rendered, this produces a link such as: https : // http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/attac...6&d=1575385887 which is now a 1x1 pixel instead of the actual image. This is a pretty bad regression in functionality -- especially for hotel reviews, images can still be useful (3 years isn't that long ago), or for some informational threads there may be details posted as screenshots, etc. Hopefully it's just a linking issue and the content is not gone forever... I see the issue in both mobile (Opera/Android) and desktop (Chrome), both with/without blocking enabled, tested also in incognito mode. |
Same for me in terms of older posts with attached photos. This applies across many older posts specific to individual hotels in multiple fora.

I mentioned this a month or so ago … and got the unsurprising “Probably a low priority fix” response
