Regular Posts Tagged as Reviews

I normally view Flyertalk by going to "New Posts" and just scrolling through new posts. Iin the below you see that many "regular" posts have the "Review" tag. It could be just a glitch for a particular time period. I noticed a few of these in The Hyatt forum as well.
ETA: Also a number of posts with the "Wiki" tag that do not have Wikis.

I’ve been seeing the same thing this afternoon.

IBJoel Dec 16, 2022 8:28 am

I'm not seeing it as of 7:30am Pacific. If it's still showing up like that, could you try incognito/private browsing and see if you can replicate it there?

Tanic Dec 16, 2022 7:23 pm

It's spreading like a virus in the Marriott forum.

That's a whole bunch of reviews.

David

p.s. Same behavior seen in the Hilton Honors forum. And the Hyatt forum.

I was about to say "Never mind. Review mania in the Hotel fora is gone." but the Review tagged threads are only gone in Hyatt.

Still quite prominent in Hilton right now. Also a number of those previously tagged as Review threads in Marriott are still showing erroneously.

Clearly still an issue. Happens since yesterday on Firefox (108.0.1). I tried Google browser incognito and not logged in....
I'd be amazed if your QA staff cannot replicate on their own devices/browsers.

Well it's weird for me. I just clicked on New Posts" and thought "oh, it's fixed". Read another thread from the "New Posts", gave a like, then clicked "New Posts" again and boom, every single thread on the first page had "Review" in front of it.

FF, W10 if that helps.

OK, I was able to replicate in the Hilton forum. Browser didn't seem to matter, but it might rotate which forum it effects most. I will ask tech to take a look.

xooz Dec 19, 2022 11:41 am

Weird that you are not "replicating" by using the New Posts" search option. I do a New Posts search and there are clusters of examples. However, in one example the tag shows in the new posts list, but if you go to that post's forum, it has no tag. Also, they come in batches and a quick look showed that the batch might start with a thread that actually should have a tag. For example, a series of multiple posts that have the Review tag may start with a post about a hotel that actually has a review.

JayhawkCO Dec 19, 2022 11:47 am

Also seeing it here, using Chrome.

And... they're back. Below is from a "New Posts" search. Looked like for a while no tags were displaying, which would be preferred to bogus tags displaying...

Same for me. It's intermittent though and can't see a pattern as yet.

IluvSQ Jan 18, 2023 6:46 am

Just came up for me in the Marriott forum - every post is a review.

JayhawkCO Jan 18, 2023 7:34 am

To me, it seems like whenever a thread pops up that actually is a review, it's sharing the tag with the rest of the threads below it on the same page.

Good eye. I see that pattern as well (Marriott, Hyatt, IHG).

More awesomeness in Hilton Forum:

And funnily enough, it tagged this thread. :D

Yesterday I was seeing almost all threads in the Hyatt forum tagged as ""Review".EDit

Today, no such problem, seems back to normal. Thank you.

Edit: Problem returned/present today, Hyatt forum, 1/20/23, ~9pm.

Silver Fox Jan 20, 2023 1:22 am

Not back to normal for me in "New Posts".

But, if I select the first thread on there with "Review" by selecting the "jump to first unread" to the left of the title, a lot of the "Reviews" disappear. If I then select the same for the first one in the list that remains then they all (Reviews moniker) disappear. Dunno if that might help.

Mary2e Jan 23, 2023 2:10 pm

I'm seeing the same in the Hyatt forum.

IBJoel Jan 24, 2023 11:03 am

Yeah, we're most likely going to discontinue the review tag. Tech is investing a lot of time for something so small

xooz Jan 24, 2023 11:45 am

Would agree that the tag provides little value in that you don't often open a thread only because it has a Wiki or Review.

That would be great. I don't know about others, but when I see a review tag I don't even look at the post, particularly if I'm not looking for a review and only checking to see if there is some information or advice I could offer.
