Sponsored posts

OK, I’ll bite.

Is there a way to put them on the ignore list?

Relevance to AA: I can see this becoming like the FA CC pitches that you can’t turn off.

Interestingly, they seem to come and go randomly. Is anyone else seeing them?

You ignore the posts by scrolling right by them and not opening them. None of us is paying to be a member of FT, so if sponsored posts help keep it that way, they don't bother me. :)

There's a FlyerTalk forum to discuss technical issues, which is where I will move this thread as it's not related to AA.

Thanks, that’s very helpful. I’ve been a member here 21 years and hadn’t realized you could scroll past posts!

Some of us contribute significant valuable content to FT, which FT then monetizes through ads. At FT’s request, I don’t block the ads. I used to actually pay for FT Premium for an ad-free experience, but AFAIK that’s no longer offered.

I think FT will lose value if it starts bombarding us with irrelevant content. Just my two cents.

You're very welcome. I'm glad I could be of help. ;)

Seriously, a random, outlier subject line is that intrusive? It isn't like having to listen to AA FAs hawking credit cards. You can escape the sponsored content.

Over the holidays my personal computer was broken, so I could only look at FT on my work computer and my phone. This was the first time I ever noticed the "sponsored posts" in the forums.

I run Ad Block Plus on my personal machine in Chrome, and the "sponsored posts" do not appear (nor do the ads). (lol, the proper name gets censored)

I know it's a first-world problem. :D

Sadly no longer offered. I have asked FT about this. I also used to pay for the ad-free experience.

I was getting used to the Erectile Dysfunction "threads" in the AA forum, but now the AntiVaxxer ads on FT are a bit much.

Tanic, could you please post a screenshot on the anti-vaxxer one?

Given the Community Director's clear words about such posts
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/sugg...-director.html
I hope IB will make sure that such ads are not served here.

Thank you. I'll see what we can do about these. I was under the impression they were Sponsored Posts, which we have more direct control over. Make no mistake, our ads team will be notified, but if these are Google Ads, they may fall under the "Clothing" category and it will be more difficult to weed them out.

Also, if you click on the blue "X" in the upper right of the ad, you should be able to disable it for yourself.
