"Your Post Has Been Edited" notification??

I'm wondering about the possibility of receiving an automatic notification when a FT's post has been edited by a moderator (for any number of valid reasons).

The last thing I want to do is add any additional work to the long list of things our great moderators have to do, but I can't imagine this being an issue considering how many other automatic notifications are already done seamlessly.

I think the best way to make this work (trying to see this from the moderator's point of view), is make this a "notification that an edit has happened" only - not that the edit has happened and here's reasons X, y and z that it was necessary. I think that might get too cumbersome for mods but I am open to ideas.

Maybe the list below could have one additional line... (stolen from one of our Community Director's posts... thanks SanDiego1K )

I know that I (and I'm sure many others might) would very much appreciate the ability to see when my posts may have been edited so that (a) I may learn what mistakes I've made and why - therefore hopefully making me a better poster in the end. Hopefully when implemented, this feature would actually cut down on the work of our overburdened mods. And (b) so that I could make sure that the main point of my post is still coming thru.

Any thoughts... ?

If it’s automated it shouldt add any works for the mods. Automation FTW!

I'm all for it. It's frustrating when posts are edited or removed without notification, especially when you are searching for a post that you know you have made.

I agree. There are occasions when I wonder if I forgot to touch the 'submit reply' button.

Let me ask the mods

Check your PMs. I have a few related to moved/removed posts but they don’t generate any notifications so I had no idea the actions were taken. I do get notifications for other PMs though.

If I'm not mistaken, we ARE notified if posts are moved, but not if they're removed (I.e., deleted).

I can only speak to my experience:

Indeed. Thank you. It certainly is not mine.

That is unlikely. What I meant is my posts just disappear, as if by magic.

Do you have any specific forums this happens in?

Perhaps it could be optional.

Not reasonable

Either post my message as-is, showing my name as the author, or else remove my name and show it as “community member post edited by moderator abc”

Absolutely agree with. It ceases to be you original thought/post after extensive editing.
