How to add links to posts?

Hi,
Sorry if I am on the wrong BB, just seemed like this would be the least likely to get flamed for my ignorance. I can't seem to figure out how to add a link to another FF BB in my posts. I'm guessing it has to do with the UBB explanation found to the left of a meesage on the "posting" page, but it's all Greek to me. Can someone please tell me where to find an explanation of how to post a message with a link in it (preferable with an example) or better yet post an explanation.

Thanks guys
Mike

You can simply paste a URL in your message like:

http://www.nytimes.com

or, the fancy way:

[ URL=http://www.nytimes.com]TYPE YOUR TEXT HERE[/URL]

Just remove the space between [ and URL above.

I am going to use curly brackets rather then square ones so that you will be able to see how it is done. Just replace {} with []

{url=http://www.mylink.com}My Link{/url}

For really long urls, it is best to use this method rather than just posting the link.

Hey, I never knew a leading space would screw up the link!

Thanks for answering so quickly. I think I've figured out the "how" of posting", but I don't understand how to get the URL of a specific topic elsewhere on the BB.

Thanks again

Mike

Anywho, after tis experience I've come to two conclusions:

1.) Every child should have access to a
computer!

2.) Every adult should have acces to a child!

Dave,

Your URL is also typed in as:

http://http//www.flyertalk.com/forum...ML/003454.html

You'll have to delete one set of http:// for it to work.

RicoWrite, see that little icon that looks like a pencil and a piece of paper above each post?

If you click on that, you can edit your post! No need to keep adding new ones....

Here's an idea - why not add the URL at the side of the quotes on top, save all that typing and get it right first time

ozstamps Jun 11, 2003 2:06 pm

jimc_usa - I do not believe that is a feature of the UBB boards such as this, but it only takes 2 mouse clicks to see this page url - right click on this page, and left click "properties."

If you need to copy it - mouse highlight the link and hit "Ctrl" key and "C" key, and use "Ctrl" and "V" keys to paste it into a reply.

That is how I do it anyway, and only takes a few seconds now I have the hang of it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You don't even need to go to that much trouble if you have your status bar open. Just move the mouse over the link and the URL will show up on the status bar http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
