Please see post #132 for further reading on this ongoing publishing industry issue (it's not just FlyerTalk) https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/29310693-post132.html

We understand disruptive advertisements lessen the enjoyment of your FlyerTalk browsing experience. Please post all disruptive advertisement reports here; your full report (see above) will assist Internet Brands / FlyerTalk in handling these expeditiously. Admin / Tech attempts to respond to all reports speedily, but eliminating problem adverts may require communication with advertisements suppliers or devising technical solutions that may require time. (Internet Brands operates during customary and usual work hours on the U. S. West Coast; holidays, weekends, etc. are observed.)

To see how to include a screen shot in your post, once you have taken the screen shot follow the instructions "Inserting a photo or image from your device into a post:" in the first post in the thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...mage-post.html

NOTE: Internet Brands and FlyerTalk discourage the use of software that modifies your FlyerTalk browsing experience (e.g. ad blocking software). IB / FT declines all responsibility for the use of such software and can not provide support or assistance if such software is used. As well, we remind you IB / FT can only provide FlyerTalk free to members because of the financial support of advertisers; using ad blockers denies IB / FT income that would normally pay for your free community membership and browsing experience..

Posts advocating, suggesting, or recommending use of ad blocking etc. software will be summarily deleted.

I've actually noticed a TON of redirects (2-3 per page, with a couple others blocked) on some wikis I frequent, so I do want to reiterate that this is an internet-wide issue, as Paul has said. It's not going to be every site, but it disproportionately effects sites that primarily act as free-to-use sources of information.

Thought I'd escaped them for a while, but just had one hijack my Android Chrome browser an also start demanding to be allowed to do notifications and to access my Facebook. This looked like an ad for something Game of Thrones related (game? Pirated streaming?)

Next time it happens, I'll be sure to get a screen capture.

Did it redirect you to the App/Play Store? I've gotten those, before.

No problems at all using FT on a mobile device while in China - guess blocking all the Google stuff at last is working out very well by them

(FT itself is fast and readily accessible)

Problems are back now while on western internet..

Really lets me think that the Chinese Version does have its advantages vs. what the western spamnet has become..

Android 8.1, Google Chrome . Multiple times this afternoon, both on the front page and in threads, I get redirected to "www.facebook.com-newegg.com" spam.

I tried to hit "stop" to keep it from happening but it does.

That Facebook-Newegg ad spam started popping up for me today as well while browsing the Premium Fare Deals forum on my Pixel XL.

How do you get rid of these ads. Can't read posts clearly. Very frustrating.

Expand the wiki post at the top and read the paragraph that starts 'NOTE:'...there you will find the answer.

That note is literally the funniest thing I've ever read on FT. "We discourage you from using the only type of product that would even make this website viewable on a mobile device". So glad they got the new format rolled though. Priorities are in the right place!
Grog, chavala and strickerj like this.

Don't have a screenshot of the hijack site itself since I have the Chrome setting turned onto block the redirects, but several times today in OMNI/PR, it's blocked a redirect to ttack.googlaappla.com.

Samsung S9+ running android 8.0.
