Once again FT became unreadable this weekend on my iPad due to this ad. As that is how I access FT when I'm not at work (eg how I normally access it) it means I'm about to give up on FT entirely. On the plus side, I had more time for other things this weekend. As to screenshots, if I could actually get to any threads on FT on my iPad without being redirected, I would post one, but I can't actually get to this thread from my iPad in order to post it.

Hate to admit caving in but that was by far the BEST $1.99 I’ve spent on an app. I have absolutely ZERO issue with normal ads on a site, but things just got far out of hand where the site was utterly unusable. If FT/IB decides to genuinely tackle the problem, then I’ll be happy to reconsider my use of such software.

If you are on an Android device you are in luck Google has something to help you out, Apple folks good luck.

You are a winner pop up

I have been having the elusive, you are a winner pop up come up on my apple iphone multiple times, nearly making using FlyerTalk impossible. I have contacted and spoken to apple and their only fix was for me to get a new phone. Well, I was due, and wanted a new one, so I got a new phone. And still get the pop up. I have been running the latest ios. I do have many screen shots of the pop up. I am both happy and sad to know that this is happening to others, as I do enjoy browsing the forum. I have spent alot of time with apple trying to remedy the situation, and they too are at a loss. If you need more photos or info, I am happy to do anything in my power to help.

Here's how to protect yourself from rogue redirect ads right now in Chrome

I updated my iOS device to Chrome 64 yesterday and haven't received any pop-ups on FT using chrome since. Only running a blocker on Safari. Definitely getting served ads on Chrome but not getting pop-ups the annoying pop-ups. For now.

The "you're a winner" pop is so bad now I can't even go on the FlyerTalk homepage on my mobile device. Forget it.

May I suggest subscription option with no ads?

or they could just stop using ad networks that clog up their pages with this garbage. it literally takes 10 seconds to fix this problem but we're still here dealing with this weeks later

Not me. Makes me wonder why I always didn’t use ........ Not going back now.

Well, yes, that the thing, the longer they take to act the more damage they're doing to themselves in the longrun since every day more people are installing ad blockers and none of them are going to uninstall them once this is fixed (assuming they ever bother to fix it).

And having the forum software auto-censor every mention of ad blockers isn't going to help. The users aren't stupid, quit treating them as such.

The main difference is that on other sites where it happens, they take immediate and temporary solutions to prevent this to happening to their reader until they have a more permanent fixes. The websites that just let them run are pr0n sites, illegal downloading sites, hackerz forums and flyertalk :)

Well we are a few weeks since that post, any news to share with us? While it is an internet-wide issue, FT is the only site I continue to frequent that has not been proactive about a temporary fix of the problem. As such, FT is the only site I continue to use an ad blocker on. I would sure love to be able to access FT via tapatalk.

I would sooner access those illicit sites unprotected than visit FT unprotected. At least those sites aren't massive memory hogs.

No resolution as yet.
