Quick Reply function not working (sometimes)
 

I've noticed over the past couple of weeks that the Quick Reply function is working only intermittently. The problem seems to appear in just about any forum. It might have started when the recent changes were implemented (infinite scroll, etc.) but I'm not sure.

When the problem arises, I don't see the "quick reply" icon at the bottom of any post (the other three icons appear as normal, but without any extra big space where the quick reply icon should be), I don't have the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the page, and I obviously also don't have the Post Quick Reply button below the box. In addition, some of the material at the bottom of the page seems to be repeated, with the indication of the page within for thread repeated on the right side, but with bold indicating the current page only on the second one. The drop down menu to change fora appears on the left side and the selections are in bold typeface, with a different font a style.

Sometimes but not always refreshing the page restores it to the appearance I expect, including the ability to post a quick response.

I'm guessing from the style differences that I'm seeing a previous version of the software from long ago before the quick response function was added, but these are all very current threads that I'm viewing.

BTW I'm mostly using Safari on a very new iPad, but I also seem to get the problem on various windows desktops, mostly using google chrome. I have disabled the infinite scroll feature on my FT account.

Are you using the mobile version or desktop skin while on your iPad?

I'm using the full FT (desktop) website, not the mobile version. I just open the webpage in Safari and it looks the same as on my desktop. I also tend to stay logged in with the page open.

I'm not sure whether it's related, but now I'm noticing that the "news" icon doesn't appear at the bottom of every post (sometimes). The news icon seems to sometimes disappear toward the end of a thread, when it is present on earlier posts.

I'm not having a problem (pun intended!) with either problem MSP describes.

Are you using any sort of app or software that speeds up browsing on your iPad? And you are running iOS 10, correct?

When I go to Settings > General > About, I see Version 10.2.1. AFAIK this means iOS 10, right?

I don't know about any apps or software to speed bu browsing, so I certainly haven't installed anything.

When I observe the problem with the lack of Quick Reply, I see two indications of the page numbers for the thread at the bottom right, with the second one having the current page in bold. It almost looks like some of the stripes and other stuff that appears at the bottom of a page is there twice.

OK, that sounds pretty weird. Could you send a screenshot of that?
