No Gif's allowed? (Incorrect - ANIMATED GIF not allowed)

What the heck is with the no Gif's allowed? I can't think of one good technical reason why these aren't allowed.

GIF test

Edit: GIFs are allowed and work, not sure why you think they're not

I think there may be a conflict with animated GIFs:

Because I have had a number of posts removed from the forms as not complying with the rules because I posted a gif.

You had posted this gif: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbg6zdDXqy1r79k9c.gif

Which is an animated gif, all of which are excluded as per FT rules.

If your GIFs were deleted, perhaps they were oversized?

How many non-animated, size conforming, on-topic GIF's is "a number"?

You may embed non-animated images in your posts. Your images must conform to all FlyerTalk content rules, must convey relevant, on-topic information and are not allowed in signature lines or user profiles other than in the space designated in your profile for your picture. (See also, Rule 2 — User Profiles.) Please size your images large enough to get your point across but not so that they distort FlyerTalk standard column widths.

Yes, I do understand that it's excluded as per FT rules, I read them after, my question for this thread is what is the reason animated gif's are now allowed? There seems to be no valid technical reason that anyone can come up with.

Animated gif are not allowed because they are annoying. There is no technical reason.
