Forum suspension and no communication

The forum rules clearly states that belittling, insulting, denigrating, snarky, off topic comments are prohibited. If you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute, one can always decide to not reply, howsoever stupid query it may be. I repeatedly see this happen on this forum on and off where people throw snide, off topic remark which goes down hill fast. I was a victim of such attack, I reported this to moderators through alert feature. Only mistake I did was I also responded back to such posts for which I was suspended for a week. I have written to the sub forum moderator and community director without any response and it has been a difficult week for me.

I'm literary scared of asking any question on this forum because I may get sucked into this retaliation path and you never know who will insult you when.

If I see such posts, I know I should alert moderators. What happens if such posts continue to make rounds? I'm really trying to understand this.

Your path includes:

Never retaliate; members should report snark, etc. to the moderators.

Communicate with the moderators when / if you feel there has been misunderstanding (.g. the suspending moderator, in this instance).

Suspensions can be appealed to the Community Director; the information on how to do that are at the bottom of the Rules page: http://www.flyertalk.com/help/rules.php.

Clicking here: http://www.flyertalk.com/help/rules.php#reinstatement brings up an email form to contact the Community Director.

Sorry you've experienced troubles - give the Rules a thorough read to avoid future possibilities of running afoul of them.

I'll now close this thread, as these issues are not for public discussion.
