IFTTT & RSS Troubles on Flyertalk
 

Hello.

Is anyone else having issues lately with the RSS feeds for FT?

I use IFTTT for alerting and have noticed a significant decrease in the number of alerts over the last week or 2.

Aside from this, and a separate issue is that I see that randomly my IFTTT recipes fail for several days, before they then come back to life.

I am monitoring Premium Fares (rss 740), Hotel Deals (rss 607), Mileage Run Deals (rss 372) and Mileage Run Discussion Alert (rss 627) .

The post may be a bit vague, but I am just looking to see if anyone else has noticed any similar issues.

I don't subscribe to as many as you do but my RSS seems about the same.

I am curious if y can elaborate on your use of Ifttt . I have yet to delve into it. Any suggestions we'd be appreciated.

IFTTT is great and although at first it may seem a bit daunting, once you begin to set up your 'recipe', you will see that it is not complicated at all.

I have many alerts covering many sites that update me when a new topic is opened. My setups are quite simple - I primarily use RSS to Email and also RSS to iOS notification 'recipes'. What you need to find is the RSS address for the page that you are looking to track, then just plug that RSS address to the recipe (THIS) and select what you want for the outcome as far as an alert or notification (THAT).

If THIS then THAT. :)

I used to get a dozen notifications a day although lately this has slowed down considerably for some reason.

Really simple - If you need further info, just ask.

I have 9 IFTTT/Flyer Talk RSS recipes set up and they seem to be firing as expected.

Hi Poindexter. I definitely am getting less notifications - between 5-10 a day when I used to get 3 times that. It must be the time of year and my combination of filters.

They may be due a refresh and tweak anyhow. :)

It's not just IFTTT

If you open the feed (built today) in the browser, you can see that the publication dates are stale.

I tap into http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/exter...2&forumids=740 and it's been 2-3 days behind for weeks now.

There's something not working on the FT side... the RSS packages aren't building properly, even though they're reporting they are.
