Except your online presence has already been indexed by google and is out there anyway.

Sure, but most links will take one to the current post which will be edited to "deleted", as FT has the aforementioned, highly annoying policy of never deleting user accounts.

There are several. One that has FlyerTalk's old and deleted posts is Internet Archive: Wayback Machine at https://archive.org/web.

Once it's posted, it's never gone; halfway clever people can find out what you no longer want attributable to you. Deleting an account makes no difference.

If one wishes to reduce participation, "just do it". ;)

Now according to GDPR (art. 17 and 21), european members can request FT to delete their account even if the website is hosted outside the EU. Which is my case. I'd like to have my account deleted please. Thanks
