Is Omni Gone For A) Good, B) A Timeout, C) Technical Issues, Or D) None Of The Above?

See Subject title.

Yes.

After glancing at Randy's forum I now see why.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Oh well.

As noted, it's only on a temporary timeout while myself and the TalkBoard discuss how best to manage the forum given that a number of members have concerns (and legitimate ones at that) about the posting habits of some of our members.

Rather than allow these concerns to go unanswered, I thought it best to go dark for a week. Who knows, perhaps we can learn to live without OMNI and concentrate on the value of information about our miles and points.

To those that I have inconvenienced with this decision, I really am very sorry but I hope to become more of a better solution for you than a problem.

I was thinking my 2-million contest entry was probably a week or two too late. With omni offline, I'm back in the running!

This seriously throws the 2mm post game into chaos. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the clarification Randy! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

I understand the decision.

I regret that I can't access (read) some (past) posts.

Would it be possible to open OMNI for READ ONLY without any posting/replying rights during the OMNI-time-out?

gleff Aug 19, 2003 2:07 pm

Actually, I believe that it already is.

I seem to be able to access individual threads. There's just no index and no search. So you can go post by post until the cows come home...

Rudi, your wish is granted - great idea.

Better take a look over there in OMNI - - I don't think this was what you intended.

What a rather neat idea for a Bulletin Board about miles and flying! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif
