UBB codes missing

I wanted to post a table in a message on FT and, of course, it looks terrible unless it's in fixed font. According to various sources, UBB should have the "pre" tag, but that doesn't work here. The "code" tag is recognised on here, but doesn't work! (It's supposed to exactly leave the text enclosed by it intact and in fixed font.)

Is there some particular reason why those standard UBB codes don't work here? Is there any way to post in fixed-font on FT?

I don't know how he looks on your browser, but he looks pretty shaggy to me. (The end "/" on the " \ )--__==#==__-- /" line appears way to the right of where it should, rather than lining up between the lines on the previous/next lines.)

The HTML here generates a "<pre>" tag to keep the spacing, however it also overrides that by wrapping it in a "<font SIZE="2" FACE="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">" tag. The font shouldn't be explicitly set to a proportional one if you're trying to get a fixed one.

The dog looks ok to me. What browser are you using? What font have you set as the fixed font?

I'm using Mozilla. (... so Netscape 7 should have the same problem.)

Mozilla's being kinda odd in its handling of this situation, but so is UBB. Fortunately, it seems Mozilla is being inconsistent: For it to keep the text within a <pre> proportional, requires wrapping the <pre> in a proportional font as well as sprinkling in some <p>'s. So, maybe Mozilla's interpreting of the situation will get fixed sometime.
