Can't search AA forum

All of my attempted searches in the AA forum have timed out today (7/7). Anyone else experience the same?

To be sure, I was able to do searches on Marriott and Mileage Run boards with no problem.

I just did a search on AA and it did run a little slow, but eventually returned (I have a T1 connection). It took about 2 full minutes for a search only going back the last 5 days.

Search seems to be down on most of FT. It times out after a few minutes without any results.

I've successfully searched in several forums today, but I can't search the UA forum and haven't been able to for a few days. Search just times out eventually. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

We're probably hitting critical mass again with the all the posts in UA and AA. That usually is the cause for timeouts. We'll be pruning the old threads over to FT Archives soon although I don't have a date/time as of yet.

Dan,

I guess what I don't understand is how come Search works with lighting speed in the United forum in FlyerTalk Archives where there are 127,000+ posts, but not in the FlyerTalk Miles United forum where there are a lot less.

I certainly hope with more dumps into the Archives planned, that the Search function doesn't stop working over there too. Archives are pretty useless if you can't look things up. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Premex, Archives is a pretty static index, it's been made once and never changes or needs re-indexing, the "live" boards however have their index made each and every time someone posts, all it takes is one corrupt thread and the index is all muddled up...

Thanks for the explanation. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the archiving or reindexing or whatever you did. Search working again! And it didn't even take you until 3pm. You guys must be getting pretty good at this stuff! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Edited to add that I see Archive is down now, so I assume you're still working on it dumping over there. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
