Newbie Question About Adding Quotes

I've made a few posts and tried to add a QUOTE to a post, without success. My entry ended up looking like: the word quote with the brackets around it, followed by the words I wanted to appear, then the word quote with the brackets around it again. I had gone to FAQ and printed out the UBB instructions, I tried to follow them exactly. Would you kindly alert me as to how to accomplish adding quotes? Sorry, I'm not a programmer, nor familiar with other dweeby aspects of using bulletin boards. Thanks in advance for assistance.

The opening bracket should contain quote
The closing bracket should contain /quote
Use square brackets for both http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thank you very much James & Rudi:

The smacking sound you hear is me hitting my forehead---when I tried it before I forgot the pesky slash! And there it is on the FAQ UBB cheatsheet I printed out...

The opening bracket should contain quote
The closing bracket should contain /quote
Use square brackets for both
Now I have to look at it to see if it worked.

It worked! I'm laughing now.

Now I have to print out the page that shows how to create the different smilies. I'll get the hang of it sometime soon...

Can you tell I've never done anything the least bit technical on my computer??

I am still having problems with the quotation function.

Here is the link, to the last posting by me, where I put quotation marks around part of the message, only - but the message was not highlighted, as described in the previous postings with this thread.

To put a quote: one needs to put a "[" before the message, and then a "/]" after the message - one can quote all or part of the message?

PS-I do not see quotes being mentioned in the FAQ section - where is it there?

FlyergoldIII,

You forgot the [/QUOTE] at the end of the quote.

If you would like to quote a post, just click the pencil about that post.
