Flyertalk clock not quite tick-tock
Ok, as I'm sitting here late at night, posting messages, and waiting for responses, I've noticed that the Flyertalk clock is about 8-9 minutes slow compared to Atomic time. From a user experiance angle this doesn't matter too much, but from a technical angle, off clocks can occasionally become a problem if servers decided they don't like each other. Btw, I was noticing this in the United forum.

bump...

There shouldn't be any server interaction going on, as FT is on a single server...
I'll check with John to see if this has any relevance. [This message has been edited by dan at WebFlyer (edited 08-28-2002).] |
It's pretty trivial to have a server keep its time correct by talking to its closest NTP server(s). Many people even do it with home networks.

Its now built-in to Windows XP...

Yep, noticed this too.
I am posting this at 12.03am here, or 8.03am MST. Bet it timestamps at about 7.55pm ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
Dan .. any update on this one?

No updates... it doesn't pose enough of a concern to keep up on. When we had this server setup by our host, they set the time, and it's close enough for us.
