FT very sloooooooow

Taking about 3 minutes to load the mainpage...

BlondeBomber Jul 13, 2002 5:39 am

Sometimes it never loads.

svpii Jul 13, 2002 5:48 am

On high speed access, I'm getting the top page - actually only the header - to load. I found this thread by clicking on "Today's active posts" (or whatever it's called).. where just enough threads loaded to see this one..

Whatzup???

I'm not sure they monitor on the weekend, based on previous comments...

Now that FT is back, I find it is still sloooooooow for me. I do have cable for internet and not having this problem at other sites.

pointsgirl Jul 15, 2002 9:20 am

FT seems to be running normal for me. Glad it is back up again!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes, it is indeed a bit slow for me this morning... but after the last few days, you'll syrely have no complaints from me! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Thanks! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

LarryU Jul 15, 2002 1:34 pm

Very slow indeed. A page I started loading late on Friday, finally loaded today! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

But I'm certainly glad its up now. I've been climbing the walls and when I reached the top, I had to build other walls to climb. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Anyone from FT central able to comment?

Rudi Jul 15, 2002 4:44 pm

since FT's rebirth today - everything loads very fast for me (on cable).

Randy Petersen Jul 16, 2002 2:01 pm

Strange it would be slower - our change out recently was to move to a dual-processor high end server which we would have thought made things a lot quicker. This is getting expensive - so more to the drawing board.

Actually Randy, When FT is up it's blazing! It was last friday when seemingly something went wrong and FT grinded to a halt.

svpii Jul 16, 2002 8:22 pm

I seem to be experiencing a delay in page loading tonight.. once the page loads, it's fine, but there is a veery slow load time for each forum and each thread I choose..

For instance, it took 9 seconds for this reply to post after I hit "submit now"..

25-seconds to get to the Post window. This morning FT is dragging so slowly in all facets. It was fine earlier in the week, but began slowing yesterday, and today is not even crawling. [Recently upgraded my browser and every other site is zipping right along.]

ScottC Jul 21, 2002 10:05 am

Same here, extremely slow....

svpii Jul 21, 2002 10:44 am

It has been grinding all morning - went out all together for me just a while ago - now back up but still slow..

ozstamps Jul 21, 2002 11:13 am

Agree with SVP. Crashed totally about 30 mins back.

Been gone most of the weekend, just like last weekend. Was this another planned outage?

jan_az Jul 22, 2002 9:35 am

And just a favor - but if they are "planned", could they maybe be posted in the announcements section?

Not sure how long a Dutch 'weekend' runs but FT was down for less than 24 hours I believe, and came back in the past hour or so.

A script that we use to handle access logs is having problems rebooting the site after it runs. We're aware of it, and John will be looking into it when he gets back.

Sorry about the continuing problems with the weekend downtimes; it's no fun at this end, either.

markbach Jul 22, 2002 11:02 am

have you guys considered using something like Nagios which will monitor the site (uptime, http, smtp, etc) and email / page you if something goes down?

dan at WebFlyer Jul 22, 2002 11:05 am

I don't know about Nagios, but we've received suggestions for other site monitoring solutions. John's been speaking with Randy about that...
