4 - If the black sub menu list pops up for even a split second, you get the white screen with just the FT logos and the thread does not open.

I know, don't do that!
It's an issue with IE. We know about it -- the best solution I have right now is to don't do that or use Firefox.

Thanks John. Just thought it might help the IT guys but since they know about it I don't have to be concerned.

As for me, 99% of the time I'm OK, just every now I'm not paying attention and the mouse always finds that spot <G>. Easily recovered from so no harm done.

Thanks

Interesting. I'm surfing at work where I have no choice but to use IE6. Now I know about this little, uh, quirk, I find I can avoid it (woohoo!). Well, as long as I remember to keep my mouse within bounds.

FT is still slow to load pages, but at least I don't keep getting those annoying error messages as I change from page to page... So thanks for pointing this out, 900at!

extremely slow right now

Seeing slowness the last 20 mins like it was pre Search being turned off.

Maybe something to do with the brand new ads we have?

It's also very, very slow here, a few miles from haole. Almost unusable.

Are y'all using dial up? FT is moving along fine for me, but then I never had a slow connection when we had search.

I also don't get pop-up ads, but I am getting the new in-line ads.

I haven't been on dialup since 1996.

Really classy of them to foist this new wave of ads on us (or at least those without ad blockers), tell us that advertising is not a technical issue (another thread in this forum) and then watch the site come to an unbearable crawl... all on the Thursday afternoon at the start of a long holiday weekend.

Well done folks. Couldn't have planned that one any better had you tried.

Very slow here tonight, is it because of these new sponsor ads in the middle of the thread? I rarely had problems even when search was up, only once in awhile in a hotel.

It's slow opening up a post, replying to a post, and submitting reply after writing a post. Also slow doing a forum jump.

Any ETA as to when the extremely slow performance will be fixed?

Is there an ETA as to when the current extremely slow performance will be fixed? The site is close to unusable (unless you don't mind waiting five minutes for a page to load), and has been this way for the past six or seven hours at least. Thank you.

It's been S-L-O-W loading for two days, although once I can get to the forums it's OK. Last night the site took so long to load I gave up, and I'm on DSL.
