Lack of access to FT? Anything?
Lack of access to FT? Anything?
Using another computer yesterday, I encountered a dialup access problem with FT (and it seems many if not all web sites) yesterday. The "Finding site: Flyertalk" came up, then "opening page res://c:windows\system\SHDOCLC.DLL/dsnerror.htm..." and finally just "cannot find server." Initially it appeared that everything was gonna' be okay, running Win 98 with IE 5.5 for net access. It seemed that the modem and it's connections were fine, the "handshake" was completed to AT&T and yet after verification of account/password etc when you clicked on IE, there was no access. I'll bet it's something "simple" but it's driving me "batty." Any experts, or semi-expert types out there have an answer? Thanks in advance! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Have a great weekend everyone. A VERY exasperated Mark |
Mark,
I think this may be part of my problem regarding FT speed for the past several days (see thread this forum) .. I would expect that if it was maddenly slow on cable modem, it would have timed out all together on dialup. I still think a NAP was down somewhere... |
Thanks Pam.
Yet it seems that no websites at all could be accessed. I thought the message perhaps suggested a corrupted, if not a missing file. Also I suspected a possible viral attack as well, yet a scan (naturally without the latest updates) tested negative. I'm easily baffled, but it's frustrating! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif If anyone else knows anything please let me know. Thanks! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

Thanks Eugene. I actually came to the essentially the same conclusion - after about 3-4 hours of frustration! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
I thought that perhaps it could be the ISPs' settings/proxy etc., but was/am unsure. Thanks again! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
