........ Why is this so?

Does anyone know how come now and again, and off the top of my head, I can actually only reference one thread below, that a poster's comment will take up only half the width of the space? Many here are techno minded, and there might be a simple answer, but hitting the "enter" button is not that answer I proved for myself:

Looking at recent (last) posts on thread below explains my question:

My guess, Mr. Stamps
is that
the author wanted
it
that
way.

Yup.
"Enter"
after each line
worked for me.

Oz, I think what happened in the thread you gave is that RTWSTARALLIANCE way be entering the info in another text editor, then pasting it into FT (along with any line breaks that editor entered). It doesn't look like it was a deliberate thing...

rpmkwpw, yes that'll do it as well...

Dan ... please let me make it clear I was not complaining about it, only interested in how it occurs technically. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

rpmkwpw ... yes, if you look at the thread again, I posted a message done like you have, (using enter key half way along each line) and when I go to the edit box of mine or yours, it shows up as a series of short lines just as it posts here. On that other poster, the white edit box has it all as a solid block of text, even tho it is all printing out as short lines on the FT page, and that is usually how the UBB in my experience pastes it - i.e. what is showing to you in the white Edit box. I have made several 1000 posts here, about 1000 of them are text cut and pastes from web sites and news sites, from all over the globe, made with 100s different editing programs, and Macs, PCs and laptops no doubt, and that is the usual pattern.

For instance, if I select all the text on this news item to post into Omni as a thread:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/0105/05/n...national4.html

all the text set to right on photos will come out in a solid block on UBB, not offset as it has been created in the Newspaper link, which clearly has code to indent it like that. Viz:

Clinton's death - he was killed by two savage dingoes on Fraser Island on Monday - was not mentioned. Instead, the Gage family drew strength from what Clinton gave rather than how he was taken away.

"We now ask of each and every one of you here, those of you who knew Clinton intimately, closely, from a distance, or are just here out of support, please, please focus on and remember not how he left us, but what he left us," Mr Gage asked.

"Those of you with grandchildren, or those of your with children of your own, please love them more deeply than ever."
