server hanging?

For the second time recently, the FT site started hanging up on me tonight.. I use IE by the way.. I can load the site fine, but any selections cause it to hang up (this one being the first obvious exception in about 30 minutes).. happening to anyone else? When I hit ctrl-alt-del I get the message that the site is not responding and have to 'end task' - which of course closes the IE window.. happened 3 times in a row..

svpii,

Check the other threads in this forum. It's been happening often to most of us lately, but Randy's crew was supposed to have corrected the problems.
Happened to me again twice tonight, and as you did, I had to log off the default as the only way to get out of the mess.
Seems like it happens more often during busier times of the day and on weekends, when their server is getting hit hard.

thanks blackjack.. I had surmised from previous threads that this had been a netscape-based issue - and I'm a Bill Gates groupie, so except for the sound issue in windows, I hadn't had any problems through all this. So if it's a server capacity problem, and not a software conflict problem, that's another thing - but I'm not convinced that's what it is.. seems were that the case, I'd have more difficulty loading the front page.. it loads well and quickly.. it's only when you select a particular forum or thread that it hangs.. now that would be when the database gets tapped, so maybe it's a db server or db issue ? Mysterious..

Hello. Can you give me some instances of the forums &/or threads that have been causing this particular problem? Also, are you able to illicit the same problem with those forums &/or threads when you return to them time and again or is this a periodic thing that you've been unable to duplicate?

Thank you for your feedback we appreciate it.

Michael:
It has only happened on two or three occasions to me - it typically worked like this: I loaded the front page fine, but then if I clicked on any forum, it hung.. OR, I got the forum and clicked on a thread and then it hung. In all case, I could replicate the problem immediately, but not necessarily w/ same forum or thread selection.. and then when I would come back later, it seemed to have cleared up. Not exactly a road map to the problem, is it?

For what it's worth, I couldn't access the site at all earlier this morning for at least two hours..

I was cut off suddenly this morning (Central European time) and have been unable to access FT for the past eight hours. Judging by the low number of posts today, no-one else could either. Works fine now though.

Me too. Had to email Dorian and Rudi who were in waking hours in Europe to ask if FT was down for them too. It was. And had been. Doc confirmed it. Seemd like 8 hours or so. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

How is it now? Do you continue to have problems or have they cleared up?

This week, for the first time since I fell in love with FlyerTalk in June 2000, I've had trouble accessing.
