Dump the Clear button

I can't be the only one who has done this....

Typing a long post, accidentally hit escape, which is the same as pressing the clear field button. All your hard work and thoughts disappears, and you have the choice of starting over, or, more often than not in my case, skipping the response and moving on.

Does anyone ever use this feature? More harm than good IMO.

I know a good solution is to type the post in Word then copy it over. I do this for trip reports, but it is very immpractical for regular posting.

I never have any use for the Clear button. If I don't want to post a reply, I close the window. (This works for my Web style, since I open each thread in a new window so the forum list is still there, but one could accomplish the same with the Back command.) As for having a key one might hit by mistake invoke Clear - probably better than invoking Submit, but why enable the Escape key at all?

Yep, did this today. Took 5 mins to re-key and re-find the threads involved in the po-ast. Dump it!

just did this.. for some reason I'm having trouble posting a trip report - so I hit escape to stop the attempt before it timed out again (cause the last time it timed out and I hit "back" - the posting form was there but my input was gone http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif ) - when I hit the escape - everything was lost - again!

Losing a long post happened to me once http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif, so what I now do for either extra long posts or for trip reports is work off-line in MS-Word and then cut & paste....
