Can't delete a post
 

When I tried to delete one of my old posts, the message said "only Forum leaders can delete posts."

Since when??

Bryan, I tried again this morning & still couldn't delete.

Does this have anything to do with the Rudi/SFO meeting thread being deleted??

Me too. Just to add more info, thep ost in question was just a regular reply (not the first post or anything).

Don't want to pile on here but it is the same story for me when trying to delete a duplicate post today under general travel talk "Surprise Fedex PackageII."

Could Bryan or Michael please respond to this post??

Ditto - I couldn't delete a duplicate post as well..

Sorry, Pete, haven't scrolled down this far in a while. I wasn't aware of the change. I will have an answer very shortly.

Folks, here's what's going on: we discovered that there's no way (at this time) to separate people's ability to delete single posts from the ability to delete entire threads that they've begun. It WAS in response to the Rudi/SF thread being deleted. The decision was made, therefore, to disable both abilities. People can still edit their posts, thankfully.

I would have preferred a public announcement of the change, along wth a call for comments or opinions, but let this serve as a belated one.

And in the case of dup/trip posts, we all want to save bandwith, what should we do?

There should be an official announcement, in my opinion. This decision leaves us with the responsibility to delete duplicate posts. As I said, I don't think this one's done yet--I will keep you posted of anything else i hear.

Under the current situation, at a minimum, what people could do is go in and edit their duplicate posts, taking out all the text, or saying "duplicate" to improve readability and reduce bandwidth.

Please note when attempting to edit a duplicate post that you must leave at least one character remaining in the box or you will get an error message saying that you have neglected to enter all the necesssary info!
