Please make the survey stop!

Every time I follow a link now I get a pop up window to fill out a survey ... I did it the first time, but now I have to click "No" on the pop up box for every new page I visit (meaning each new thread I visit!).

Please, make it stop!

Beckles Aug 16, 1999 1:04 pm

In case anyone else runs into this problem, clearing the cache fixed it (on the recommendation of the folks administering the survey).

Thank you for sharing the solution Beckles. I'm glad our survey team was able to provide a solution to your problem. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I've got the survey square running in the background too. Forgive my lack of computer savvy--how do you go about clearing the cache to make it stop?

Michael at WebFlyer Aug 16, 1999 4:24 pm

TribeFlyer no prob.

I would advise holding down your "shift" key and clicking on your refresh/reload button first.

If this doesn't work, your browsers "cache" will be a part of your "preferences/options". Which should be, depending upon the browser that you are using, located either under your "edit" menu or your "view" menu. Then just follow the instructions from there.

If you have any problems drop me a line at mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A> or call me at 719.572.2715

The survey window only opened once, but every time I goto a new page it attempts to contact data.surveybuilder.com

This slows my browsing to a crawl, making it almost unbearable

Please make it stop.

I'm having great difficulty even getting the main FlyerTalk page. Before it even loads it hangs up at "connecting to host: www.datasurvey.com or something. I think if datasurvey is slow, so goes FlyerTalk. Please trash 'em unless they can get their act together.

Rudi Aug 17, 1999 12:41 pm

sometimes still (and then for 5-10 minutes) very slow hanging to that survey-server (I did clear my cache several times) - and then again working normal.

james Aug 17, 1999 1:00 pm

I've had the same problem as premex - it looked for datasurvey for about 5 minutes and then defaulted to the main index page. Mind you, I still haven't seen the survey!

dilbert Aug 17, 1999 1:48 pm

Today it has been VERY SLOOOOW loading FF. "data.surveybuilder.com" has been accessing which SLOOOOOOOOOOOOWS down the access to the board. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Now also after reading a thread and going "back" to the main FT page...yikes! 5 minute wait as "www.datasurveybuilder.com" does it's thing. This is making FT unusable. Please zap this company from your program. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

dilbert Aug 17, 1999 1:51 pm

I meant when I tried to go back to previous or next page, I see "data.surveybuilder.com" at the status field at the bottom of Netscape which hangs up for a while before displaying the FF pages. It has been VERY frustingly slow today. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Help. Experiencing some of all of the above. Will try tomarrow, this is too painful.

shadow Aug 17, 1999 3:17 pm

Also experiencing the same slowness, but still haven't seen the survey...?

Catman Aug 17, 1999 3:18 pm

My hair has grown grey, my goatee is grayer and the cats have run off to do their own fall sitcome ("Life without CATMAN")

As I said in earlier posts, surveys are a good idea but maybe not under this automatic log-on forum and pop goes the survey window.

You could created a separate thread under "buzz" or "general travel" for surveys.

And save me from growing old before I have to.

Thank you and have a MEOWY DAY!

Rudi Aug 17, 1999 4:31 pm

I REALLY HATE THAT SURVEY-SERVER. HATE! THE WEBFLYER-HOMEPAGE JUST TOOK 4.5 MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD - WITH MY FAST-CABLE-MODEM CONNECTION!

Please let those survey people first fix their hard and softwarebefore harming all useres - and at the end your own Flyertalk-traffic-interests. I am fed up for today/tonight!

PremEx Aug 17, 1999 4:55 pm

Rudi, I think they just fixed it.

erdoc Aug 17, 1999 5:23 pm

Loading the survey crashed my browser 3 times in a row. A later 4th attempt got me in this time.

doc Aug 17, 1999 6:07 pm

I just noted in the former thread (8:00pm EST, 8/16) that things had improved for me and appeared to be quite normal, but now I'm more than a little worried. Yet, so far, so good. I'll edit this to reflect any further trouble I might have in the next30 mins if any occcurs. Mmm.....harder to type with my fingers crossed!

Oooo, Ouch. So many problems. I'd like to apologize one more time for all of the problems that we've had and to let you all know that we beleive we have it all under control now...knock on wood.

For those of you who might still be interested in the survey you can now find it at the following locations:

http://www.webflyer.com/bonusconnect/bonusconnect.htm
http://www.webflyer.com/@10/fr10.htm
http://www.webflyer.com/@accounts/fracct.htm

Please note: The survey is still on a random timer and so you will need to hit "shift+refresh" several times in order to get the survey.
