FlyerTalk 4.5 Problems

Having some serious problems here with the new V4.5.

Sometimes when loading a page get a Windows error message:

"An Error Has Occurred In The Script Of This Page"
Error: Invalid Character
-or sometimes-
Error: Syntax Error

Also (maybe because of the above) while bouncing in and out of threads, every so often when hitting the "back" button on the browser, it generates a Windows "You Have Performed An Illegal Operation" error message and shuts down the browser and AOL. Sometimes don't get this error message but when hitting "back" it instantly shuts down the browser and AOL.

We have 3 computers here and all are doing the same thing. All 3 are running:

Windows 95
AOL 4.0 with a built in version of Internet Explorer

Also your clock is off.

I will now play around with Netscape Navagator to see if I get any problems with that and will advise.

Mine is an Internet Explorer conflict with KERNEL then shut down time.

Same problems as PremEx with AOL browser. Shuts down and disconnects me constantly. Now using AOL and Internet Explorer. Seems to be working better.

Also, my opinion of the long threads that have been broken into multiple pages is very negative. The oldest comments show up first and I have to hit extra buttons to return to main page. Very bad!!! Leave long threads as is, or at least put most recent posts on first page.

In a nutshell (if I can get this to post), stuff V4.5 up someone's you know what and leave it there! (Sorry for this description, but I can think of nothing that more aptly describes the situation)

Yes, must be a UBB problem that IE can't resolve. Been running Netscape with no problems. But everytime I switch back to AOL's IE...Kablamy!

Perhaps MileKing is right. Return to 3.0 until UBB gets the bugs out.

I'm running Netscape 4.6 with no problems so far...I tried IE and got error messages too.

BlondeBomber Jul 7, 1999 3:29 pm

I have also gotten invalid page fault in unknown module.

BlondeBomber Jul 7, 1999 3:31 pm

Also invalid page fault in MSHTML.DLL and JSCRIPT.DLL. VERY BUGGY!

PremEx Jul 7, 1999 3:32 pm

I just ran IE on another UBB 4.5 site and had no problems. Perhaps it's with FlyerTalk's server?

Ran this several times and most of the invalid page faults come up in MSHTML.DLL and JSCRIPT.DLL.

Actually, it's UBB 5.38, but the idea is right ...

BTW, I'm using IE 5.0 with no problems here ... must be AOL's version of IE causing the problem.

For once I changed my browser from Netscape 4.6 (Mac-versions) to Internet Explorer (Mac version 4.5). No problem with both (a happy Mac and non-AOL-user).

Thank you all very much for your feedback.

I apologize that we continue to have problems with this board and I asure you that we are all making our best efforts to get the situation in hand.

I am aware of what is causing the following error:

"An Error Has Occurred In The Script Of This Page"
Error: Invalid Character
-or sometimes-
Error: Syntax Error

and I can remedy that situation fairly quickly I believe.

We are also aware of the clock problems and are making efforts to correct the situation there as well.

Please bare with us just a tad longer and I will try to get the situation straightened out ASAP.

------------------
ThanX...
-Michael
