Timezone and DST not working

I have tried setting the "automatically detect timezone settings" option rather than forcing it and it does not seem to work properly

e.g. at the moment , with auto-detect, it identifies time for "Beijing , Perth, Singapore, Hong Kong" as being an hour earlier than the time is

As another example, the same situation exists for Eastern Australia

It's never worked right for me. Twice a year I have to futz with the settings until I'm on the right time.

It happens every time DST starts and ends in FT's home time zone. Because these occur during the weekend it typically doesn't get fixed until the following Monday (or Tuesday for those well to the east of USA).

DST should be based on the country whose zone has been selected and not just based on when DST starts/ends in the USA

Seems like a bug to me

It's working for me. I just posted in a thread after reading this thread, and the post time matched east coast time zone (IB is on west coast). Yup, my laptop says 5:10pm & so does the post time of this post. I've never had to futz with settings. Sorry to hear of others having problems.

Cheers.

I'm sure this is a DST issue that will be cleared up shortly (if it's not already). The US went through daylight saving yesterday.

It is an issue that repeats twice a year; there is something incorrect with the way that the software deals with timezones ; different countries move differently and on different dates to the USA

Settings in profile are

Time Zone GMT +10 Eastern Australia, Guam, Vladivostok
Automatically detect DST settings

Either the GMT time or DST settings seem to again be automatically being detected incorrectly

GMT is 00:24
With DST in effect - time zone here is GMT+11

Yes, likewise here in Thailand which does not observe any form of DST. The FT site says "All times are GMT +7. The time now is 12:07pm." when in fact it is 11:07am here.

Slightly OT, but it would also be great to get a 24-hour clock option.

Time stamps appear to be in sync now (posting from a UK location)

To add to the slight chaos, different rules may occur as to when DST begins / ends (or Aruzona, where it's never observed). Or places like Australia, where time zones are neither necessarily vertically banded, nor are they necessarily different by hours.

I will add a hearty second for a twenty-four hour clock option! ^

The time zone issue has occurred again

According to FT, with auto detect of DST the time in Eastern Australia , Guam and Vladivostok is 1 hour ahead of the time in NSW in Eastern Australia

Is it possible to get the DST errors fixed rather than having to disable the feature?

I'm seeing that, as well. We'll get that patched up.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 11:16 pm.
