Is there a way to download a particular thread where I can read it off-line (I fly UA which has very marginal if any connection).

"File Save page" will save a html file on your computer. Can be opened off line

That is fine for shorter discussions, but the ones I'm looking at are 20-50 pages long.

I've used the print preview mode before and copied it into a word document but that is still time consuming. I was just hoping there was a more elegant way to extract all the messages.

Read this old thread about a workaround showing printable version in archives. Not a perfect solution but I am sure it's less painful than creating a word document. ;)
