Happening again. Except it's between 5 and 25 seconds from click to page appearance. Makes FT virtually unusable.

No, it's not hanging on a call to any third-party website.

Also cannot ping or tracert to the site.

Ditto here - variable, but sometimes takes quite some time (to ten seconds of longer) for a thread to load or an operation (saving a post, merging, etc.)

Chrome Version 36.0.1985.125 m running on a Windows Professional 7 with Service Pack 1.

While slightly better, still happening in probably one click out of three -- 5 to 15 second page loads.

Try using the Ghostery add on for Chrome. Gets rid of a lot of slow ads.

It's not the ads. I don't see any ads. There are not any off-site calls being made by the page.

It's the latency from time of click until the page appears. It's just maddeningly slow and you never know from one click to the next whether it will be .5 seconds or 15-25 seconds.

Yep.

Two messages, serially; probably longer delay with the first message:

Waiting for www.flyertalk.com

and

Waiting for ad.doubleclick.com

Now worse than every. Almost every click means a 5 to 15 second wait.

I don't understand why this is so difficult to fix. No other website that I use has this problem.

It's painful to use this website.

Whatever changes were made earlier this week, please roll them back!

Hey guys, We're waiting on our database team to let us know what's up. Not everyone is seeing the slowness, which sometimes means it's 1 bad server out of several. Not sure at all if that's what's happening here, but you might try to clear your cookies and see if that helps (you may randomly be assigned to a new server box). I'm shooting in the dark here since I have not heard anything today. I'll let you know as soon as I know anything.

Paul

Well, perhaps it's coincidental but I haven't had any performance issues since I took Paul's advice and cleared my flyertalk.com cookies.

Granted, it's only been about 30 minutes, but still. . .
