2013 FlyerTalk Awards voting issues

This thread is to report issues with the electronic ballot or other irregularities with the voting process for the 2013 FlyerTalk Awards.

Voting begins 1/15/2013.

There's a glitch in the ballot. When you vote in the "Outstanding" and then submit, the software tells you that you've already voted in the "Best" ballot, even if you haven't. However, exiting and reentering the ballot seems to allow you to vote again.

opposite problem

I voted for both halves but there is no button or other indication to show I have finished, and indeed I get the message to vote again when I log in./

Does the message appear when you are logged in as well? It should only appear if you are not logged in or if you haven't voted yet.

Hmm... what message are you referring to? There is a sitenotice with the Awards logo that appears (once) at the top of the forum if you are *not* logged in when you come to FT, but there's no message if you're logged in...

right but there is no "signoff" after you vote

that says something like "thanks for voting" or whatever. But I see from my handle that it says I voted so I guess it worked.

Yeah, I had the same experience & figured it out after I saw the avatar.

Cheers.

Swiss Int'l Airlines and Austrian Airlines are not listed.
They are part of Miles & More but they are different airlines than Lufthansa. If Agean is listed as sperate airline with Miles & More, so should they.
I want to vote for Swiss!

This award is about loyalty programmes, not airlines... A3 have their own programme?

I'd already voted earlier in the day & got the banner saying I needed to vote!

You may still see the banner the first time you come to the site; it will disappear when you navigate to any page :)

Thanks for voting!

Why should I see the banner at all, esp. when I'm already logged in?!

Error message received

I've attempted to vote numerous times while logged in, using both Firefox and Safari. But in each instance I get the following message:

"There was an error saving your vote. Please try again later."

Any suggestions?

It's the way that notification works; it's not tied to the voting tool at all, it's just set to notify all registered users that voting is underway.

It will be taken down soon. You may briefly see it up next week just before voting closes.

Deleted-didn't read far enough for the answer :)

It would be more helpful if the "last week to vote" announcement stated when voting closes. As it is, you must click through and read a lot of fine print to find the deadline.

Also, I don't understand the logic of when an announcement does and does not appear at the top of a page. Currently three of them are there when I search for new posts, but only one at the top of a forum. So someone could be using FT and not be shown some announcements. Other times I see announcements (such as that a mod for some other forum is out of office) for no apparent reason. The announcement about voting has gone missing during some periods since voting opened, but is now reappearing once again.

ADDED. Now the reminder to vote announcement has completely disappeared, even when I search for new posts (although three other announcements do appear).

Some announcements are only visible in certain forums, or to certain user types.

This one has come and gone, and changed visibility, from time to time.

You'll likely see it again briefly at the end of this week, as voting draws to a close.

I see it now at the top of the Technical Issues forum, but I see three other announcements when I search for recent posts.

So how many days are going to be the "Last Day to Vote"? Seems like today is at least the third that I've seen the banner at the top of every forum I open.

:D That was my question...

CPRich Feb 18, 2013 12:26 pm

Day 4 and counting. The banner consumes the entire screen on my laptop, for every one of the forums i open as a group.

IBobi Feb 19, 2013 11:53 am

Sorry about that -- setting was to expire on Friday but did not. Should be all gone now :)
