Flyertalk Database Problems

Getting a lot of these today browsing through FT:

Connection failed: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1040] Too many connections

It's almost a real airline website :)

Agreed. I'm getting a lot of Database Error white screens.

IBobi Nov 14, 2012 2:01 pm

I have not seen any of these; but any information you can give would be helpful:

1. What forums or other areas of FT were you browsing when the errors occurred?
2. What is your browser TYPE and VERSION?
3. Have you cleared your browser cache & cookies?

Thanks!

We did have a db maintenance window late last night; if you saw errors then, that would be the culprit.

Have there been any today?

Me too -- in the last couple of hours.

Can you please indicate with the action you were performing when you encountered an error.

If possible; may I ask you to please "View Source" on the page where you encounter the database error message and provide the content.

Thank you

Sorry! I honestly don't remember. Seems fine now though.

  1. Home page and several forums
  2. Firefox/Safari most recent
  3. Yes

It sounds like the culprit was the database update.

Tech is investigating the issue:

- Logging has not yet surfaced an issue

- Will be much appreciated - If possible; next time you encounter the error; please "view source" on your browser and provide the output.

your mysql config needs some tweaking, or search server further offloading ;)

I got lots of database errors for a while on Monday morning too, using Safari on an ipad2. This error page tended to pop up whenever I wanted to click on a thread by going either to the last post or the first unread post. These were not large threads that I was trying to acess. I didn't notice any problems in going to the first page of the same threads, nor in looking at the list of threads in a forum. After an hour or two the problem went away.
