Suggestion: Subscribe to Member

We've got the option now to subscribe to a thread (and have emails sent when there are updates, etc). I feel it would be useful to be able to subscribe to an individual member in a similar fashion. I'm mostly interested in it for seeing posts from official company representatives that are active on these forums.

This sort of came to me yesterday when the DL forum had a post announcing multiple new employees that will be posting. Things had been very quiet in the forums, but I decided to do a quick search on the current/prior company reps and noticed that there were actually a lot of posts that I had never seen before. Unless you are closely following certain topics and check at the right times, it's easy to miss the info.

I've added all of them to my contacts now, so I can [sort of] quickly find them and see all posts by that user. But I have to go through and do that multiple times for each person.

It would be great to have a section in my profile where I can see a list of posts from all of my "subscribed members". So if I had subscribed to 7 FT members, I envision that the page would look like the search results when doing a standard search in a forum that shows posts (not threads) of each of the people on the subscription, ordered by newest to oldest.

I do this daily in my fantasy football league, by putting certain players on my "watch list", and then I can get a single list of the latest news articles of all those players in one place.

If this is too tough, then another workaround would be allowing me to search a forum or thread for multiple users. So I could instead "Search by User Name" in a forum and type multiple user names, giving me a list of posts from each of those people in a single location. Maybe I can already do this?

As this is a suggestion and not actually a TalkBoard topic, we've taken the liberty of moving it to the Suggestions Forum.

Thanks! Man, I looked all over for this forum and failed miserably. I was only looking in forums listed across the top of the page, which didnt have this area. I rarely go to the main forums landing page of FT, which is where I would have seen this.

This was a great idea^

*Bump bump*

Been wanting to do this a few times but just now got around to looking whether or not it's actually possible. All I found was this thread...seems it didn't go anywhere, or am I just not finding it?

If it were to be allowed, it should be limited to Company Representatives IMHO.

Occasionally there are problems when some members "stalk" others on the forums with unpleasant aims.

Whilst your aims are noble, I suspect with the state of the software facilities it could not be so limited and the downsides considerably outweigh the benefits for those trying to moderate or police FT.

It wouldn't be subscribing to all posts, but to threads started. And even limiting subscriptions to company officials would certainly be a good start!
