Problems with Button Icons in Firefox
What has happened with the button icons. I've got Firefox 3.6.13 on 2 computers and on both of them I started noticing a problem with the button icons. Instead of the icon showing up I now am not getting any of the following buttons...
"Go Back" http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...bits_start.gif "Go to first new post" http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...s/firstnew.gif "Go To Last Post" http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...s/lastpost.gif The link to the image icons doesn't even pull up a picture in Firefox, but this works fine in IE. Not sure what has changed, but the icons were there last week and now I've got the same problem two systems. |
When this happens to me, clearing the cache usually fixes it.

Didn't work for me (also with Firefox 3.6.13, on a Mac OS 10.5.8). Any other ideas? |
I also have this problem, but only one computer and one browser. However if I right-click the button text and choose "view image", it comes up normally.

Still having problems here and now on other sites. Any thoughts?

I'm a little ticked that FT uses these trackers in such a way with something as basic as certain simple icons on EVERY FT web page. I understand FT (or any other web site's) need to make money (I actually understand why NY Times charges for web access, they produce a good, you pay for it, how novel - but I digress) to support the site. However, it is a little annoying that that need to generate ad content, make money involves more tracking than advertising itself. |
For me it turned out to be Ghostery rather than ....... Plus which was blocking the images (Internet Brands being the problematic option). I find it quite tiresome that FT has reduced functionality if you attempt to maintain your privacy, although I accept that it's a free service (and a very good one at that).

We do this so that the site is faster for all users, especially for users who are traveling overseas. We do not do this to make money. It actually costs us more money to use a CDN than it otherwise would. Apparently, no good deed goes unpunished. Many of the things that we deliver through our CDN are hosted on ibsrv.net. If you ever see anything across any IB site coming from x.ibsrv.net, then that asset is coming from our CDN. We use it for a lot of sites and and many different purposes, so it's apparently been blacklisted by some adblocking software. |
