Post Count Problems
 

I have been having some trouble today with my post count. I have posted enough times today, that I should have more than 702, but each time I post, it still has 702 under my handle... I tried to log out and back in, and that didn't help...

I am letting Tech know.

Posts counts aren't updated in real time. There is a process that runs through as a batch process and updates them.

Don't know where you've posted, but also be aware that OMNI (includes OMNI/PR) posts don't count toward your post count.

Actually, I do not believe I have posted in OMNI... I had thought that the post count was real time, as I have seen it increase immediately after I post something....

You must run that batch process every 5 seconds, then, because my post count goes up every time I post! Right now, it's showing (in another tab) as 5,901. Let me post this, and then I'll edit it to confirm it then shows 5,902.

I'd heard a while back that Post Counts are updated real-time as jackal and others have mentioned but it's View Counts for a thread that are batch-processed every so many minutes or hours.

But, as usual, with anything too technical I may well stand corrected. :)

That was/is my understanding (or misunderstanding :p) of FT technology as well.

FWIW, from my personal experiences, my post count has always been in real time.

Why do OMNI/OMNI PR not count? FTers seem to like them very much; one would think they are a significant as any others if we continue to support those fora.
