TAP vs TP Express (Portugalia Airlines) LIS-FNC - much difference?
Flying from Lisbon to Madeira in August.
TAP's website shows flights on TAP, and also "TP Express" operated by Portugalia Airlines (which I understand is part of TAP.)
Flight is only 1h 30m
TAP is flying A320/A321, TP Express is Embraer 190.
Is there much difference between the airlines?
Comfort? Reliability?
Thank you.

Looks like the TP Express Executive class seat may not be any different from the less expensive coach seat.
if I fly Executive on TAP (not TO Express), does the Executive class have more legroom?
i don’t care about the food differences, just want more legroom!

It is the same red seat as in the front section of Economy. You should then book best Economy and reserve a red exit seat, same seat than in C but with even more legroom.
Apart from food and a free middle seat (only on A320 series) there is no difference, TP treats everyone like cattle, there is no business class bus, no special seat, only one lounge for everyone and one very bad customer service for everyone.
Personally I would not spend the money for a continental flight in C. If you are connecting from the Americas on a cheap fare it is another story.
As of now TP does not even pay lounge access in Madeira for its C and status customers, only LH does. In addition TP closed its own Madeira lounge forever.

estrela thank you.
When you say Business seat is same S Economy, are you referring to TP Express? Or TAP?
For LIS-FUN, the choices are TAP, TP Express, EasyJet, and RyanAir. Better to stick to EasyJet?
For LIS-MAL (malaga), only TP Express, and RyanAir. Which is “less worse”?

Personally I go with the cheapest and if all have the same price with Easyjet Europe ex LIS because they fly from T1 and the Austrian regulator enforces passenger rights correctly while the Portuguese could not care less.
To LIS I prefer FR because they have the best ops and T2 in LIS is even worse than T1.
TP Express is okay but C is the same seat as in Y plus no free seat next to you.

mlondon, you can find factual information regarding the seats in TAP's executive class here. I will paste the information below:

A320s and A319s have the same specs as A321s. Economy comfort has the same seat pitch, width, and recline indeed. Which means that the only difference between C and Y in terms of seat is having the middle seat empty; note, however, that this doesn't happen in E190 and E195.
If you want even more legroom, then go for exit row indeed. As you can see here, those are the ones with the biggest pitch.

Intra-european flights on narrow body planes are all the same... they are just economy seats with the middle seat blocked. You don't get more leg room. I flew LIS-FNC and back on TAP in business this last May. The food on board is not bad. But as reported earlier, there is no lounge in Madeira. They give you a EUR 10 voucher to be used at the caf and that's it.
Just book economy and pay for the exit row seat.

Not exactly. Especially in Business, there are major differences. LH, LX, LO, BT block always the direct neighboring seat in any aircraft even if it is in a row of 2 seats (Embraer, A220, CRJ)...
There are some airlines that are inconsistent (e.g. AF blocking on A220 but not on HOP flights).
TP again is on the lower end and sells all seats in Business class on the Embraer (row of 2). Those fly today to MAN, DUB, LON, HAM (3h+ flight duration) and in the winter sometimes even to Dakar or Cabo Verde.

In terms of legspace business class and Economy Plus (the first few ros of Eco) are the same. However, to get into Economy Plus you will also need to pay extra (or book the Plus fare).
In terms of middle seat blocking, this only happens on the 319/320/321.
In terms of food, you usually get a decent meal ith alcoholic beverages in Business (on both planes) and nothing in Eco (“buy on board”).
In terms of the lounge, the TP lounge at LIS is nice andcertainly above the European average. I don’t have any recent experience at FNC.
