Miles&Go introduces flexible award pricing (Aug 2019)

Miles&Go has introduced variable flexible pricing for award tickets. As a result, the cheapest option for Y one-way awards has decreased up to 49%, although the minimum number of miles required for a C award remain way too high. The numbers are below (Y/C):
  • Mainland Portugal: 3750 / 14500;
  • Madeira and Azores: 5500 / 23500;
  • Spain and North Africa: 6000 / 26500;
  • Europe 1: 7500 / 32500;
  • Europe 2 (CPH, OSL, HEL, ARN, WAW, DME, PRG, VIE, BUD): 10500 / 36500;
  • Middle East: 17500 / 64700;
  • Western Africa: 23500 / 66000;
  • North America: 29000 / 100000;
  • South America (Brazil): 39500 / 113000;
  • Austral Africa and Central America (CCS): 40000 /120000.

Whether there is an upper limit and which is its amount is not disclosed in either case.

In any case, after the huge devaluation of Miles&Go miles over the past couple of years, with reductions in the earning rates and a huge increase in the costs of award tickets and upgrades, as least this has the potential to be positive news (at least in some cases).

News available here.

“The cost of your flight will be calculated according to the available space on the flight.”

Sounds like dynamic award pricing, which has been adopted by a number of other airlines. Low demand, you pay fewer miles. Higher demand and good seat sales, you’ll pay - often a lot - more. There’s a floor, but possibly no or ridiculously high ceiling.
