Making a mountain out of a molehill.......
A camel is defined as a horse designed by a committee.
And I think we're turning this whole process into a camel. The concept was tested for 4+ months with hardly a hiccup. Yet we want to tweak this to death before we even implement it system-wide and see if there are going to be any unforeseen issues. I say flip the image switch, monitor the progress, make adjustments as and if needed and get on with more pressing matters, whatever they may be. |

I haven't seen many of these. Do moderators currently allow them?

I encourage Talkboard to run this up the flagpole again, containing it to the airline and hotel forums along with travel products. It has worked exactly as it should in the Starwood forum. I believe that other forums would also benefit.

Make it simple: How about thiis?
The Talkboard approves the posting of images in all forums on Flyertalk. Images are subject to the TOS. If the TB wants to "beef" up the TOS in regards to embedded images, then do it. I personally feel that the current TOS would cover images. It has for the past several months of the test.

I'm saddened that I will be unable to post a photo on the AA forum of the fried pickle that was served today SFO-JFK. Hopefully this will get resolved soon, even if you have to limit it to the airline and hotel forums.

See folks what happens with NO images on FT??
No fried pickle pictures. :) |

Post #5 notes, "if they pass censorship". I don't think that is accusing moderators of being censors, but rather that the board has certain standards & the only photos posted would be tasteful / within those standards.

kokonutz, this dish is for you, Tom911's infamous burger and fried pickle. Enjoy! You've earned it :) Code:

FWIW, I voted no on this motion - not because I don't support it, but because I think the way it was worded was too vague. I support having images available, as long as it done right.
One thing I don't like is the fact the post above mine (right now) is an animated link for Hilton. It's detracts from the FT experience, IMHO. I'll likely support the images as long as they're are relevant "ground rules" for them. |

Do you mean the burger and fried pickle in ASCII code? That's what I see in the post above yours. I don't see any animated link for Hilton. |

Are you referring to an AD for Hilton? There is no animated link that a member has posted.
I doubt the TB has any control over advertising.

I would argue that the experience in the Cbuzz OpenSkies thread would show why OMNI should be excluded from images. With no topic, anything can be posted - that doesn't mean that anything should be posted but the OpenSkies thread demonstrated that not all members understood that.
The OpenSkies thread was a fast paced microcosm - but having been one of the ones involved in modding it (and probably the one with most moderator actions within it also!), my recommendation from that experience would be no images in OMNI. |
