Turkey?
Has anyone suggested a Turkey forum in Travel & Dining? If not, it is time that someone did. Turkish Air is a full Star Alliance partner, thousands of tourists and businesspeople arrive at IST and other airports in Turkey every day. And the biggest problem is that no one can agree if Turkey is in Europe or Asia or even the middle east!
I'd like to both post and search for information on Turkey, but I don't know which forum?!?!? |
I think it's an OUTSTANDING idea!
Turkey deserves its own forum. David |

We recently established a Turkish Airlnes forum for much the same reason and it's the smallest of any of the current airline forums. Qatar and Virgin America forums were created at the same time and both have three times the threads of the Turkish Airlines forum. Not sure if this is indicative as to how a stand-alone Turkey forum would fare but it's something to consider. |
At the moment (11:30a CDT), there are 3 threads in Trip Reports related to Turkey in the first two pages.

Cholula, to me size means very little. There are some important threads in the TK airline forum. Maybe not as MANY as other forums, but still VERY important to those who might end up on TK. Also, let's face it. This is a US-dominated website and much fewer Americans travel to Turkey when compared to Europeans. But Flyertalk still aims to serve Europeans. Europeans have been holidaying in Turkey for centuries. I'm in Turkey now and I even saw tourists in cars with Dutch license plates today!
Finally, ask yourself this question. If you had to go to Turkey on a business trip, and you weren't flying TK, where would you turn to for travel advice? |
At the risk of a bad food pun, why Turkey but no Greece? I would surely expect there to be a greated demand for input on travelling in Greece ahead of it's neighbor. Would a combination Greece/Turkey shared forum be acceptable?

Others have asked for forums that have a lot of interest e.g., solo travellers, Texas, etc. and it doesn't even come up for a vote. I wouldn't get your hopes up. Especially since there is a Turkish airline, Europe forum, Travel & Dining, etc.
Again, the litmus test. If you had to go there, where would you post your questions or do searches? If you try Europe, you may miss out on a lot of data that is in Asia or Middle East. As for the Greece question, Greece is a full European Union member and thus there is no question of it being in the Europe forum. |
