TalkBoard vs. Moderator responsibility. Clarification please.

This announcement post recently appeared on Community Buzz:

All bragging/praying/...-threads will be closed pending review at the next Mod DO.

The moderators about to find a policy and need to determine what fits into communitybuzz! and what needs to be moved to some other place. Please be patient, we are working on a solution for that kind of threads and we'll inform you as soon as possible.

In the meantime, those threads will be CLOSED pending review.
thanks for your understanding
My understanding has always been that it was the responsibility of TalkBoard to determine and approve fora and their content, and the responsibility of Moderators to enforce those decisions.

Is this not correct? Has this policy recently changed?

Please clarify.

Thank you very much.

This is a moderation issue and not a TalkBoard issue. It is beyond the scope of the TalkBoard. I'd suggest PMing the moderators in question or Randy if you have any moderation questions or concerns.

In stating that I did not wish for the TalkBoard to be involved in the issue of moderation, I stated that it was my concern that the power of politics might mean an uneven approach to any guidelines that the Board might get involved in. I cited the U.S. political scene in which even issues of our own Supreme Court can be manipulated by the power of politics - both sides being guilty. I really, really detest that personal interests are put into play in situations like this. And please, I'm not trying to start an OMNI thread here.

I also made my decision on repsecting what it is we could ask for from our TalkBoard. From my experience with these issues so far, they can be very draining of ones time and dedication to FlyerTalk.

By not burdening the TalkBoard, current and future members of the TalkBoard as well as all members will know that their private matters involving their posts on FlyerTalk will have a constant if they need to be reviewed.

It's that simple. Thanks for listening.

I know I should leave this alone, but the horse called and told me he was not looking forward to either the beatings or the new moniker of Elmer.....

I agree with Spiff.

Punki, please press for an answer, via one or both of his suggestions.
