I have a bit of a problem with this as there are literally millions of boutique hotels which have little or nothing in common with each other.

If someone is staying in the Sheraton Tel Aviv other Starwood F/Ters may well be interested in what he is saying even if they don't plan on ever getting there -- it could reflect on the chain as a whole.

But if he stays at the Adiv Hotel (three star) what information could he give that would interest someone who will never be in Tel Aviv? I could see where we would wind up with posts about thousands of different hotels throughout the world and they will be of interest to very few F/Ters.

I think a post about a Tel Aviv boutique hotel in the Middle East Forum would have a better chance of being read.

Dovster - I know we've had discussion on the "title labeling" of posts on other threads. I wonder if a good protocol for navigation might be to have the "suggestion" in place that in location forums, users could think about labeling their titles.

For example (and I'll use Dallas, not Tel Aviv for my own frame of reference) we have had some Dallas threads in the US: South forum. Ideas might be:

DINING - Restaurant recommendations for Dallas?
BOUTIQUE HOTEL - Has anyone stayed at Hotel Zaza?
ATTRACTIONS - What is there to do near DFW on a 7 hour layover?

(All threads I've seen in the last year, btw.)

I'm just thinking of ideas for how users might be able to better find what they are looking for when doing a search and trying to scour titles to see what makes sense.

It seems to me that while there may be some difference between the two, there is enough overlap that the two concepts could co-exist together. I might suggest that the current Luxury Hotels forum be modified to officially include Boutique Hotels making a Luxury & Boutique Hotels forum. I don't think that any increase in traffic would cause any harm to the existing forum. But if the traffic increase turns out to really be causing issues, we can always split them at that point.

That would work for me as well, I'm just not sure if the current "luxury hotels crowd" would appreciate that "dilution" of their forum ;).

This would be forum I'd be able to contribute to and take enormous benefit from.

Sounds like a workable solution to me ^
