Boycott the Vote!
Until the administrators remove the incidious "I voted" logo from usernames. As already posted in COMMUNITY, such an "outing" goes against every principle of democracy. Our vote is our personal, private activity and for FT to blatantly ID people who voted from those who don't, is a form of Witch Hunt. Who made this decision and why? I have been active on FT for many years, ran for TalkBoard on three occasions, but I firmly believe this is an intollerable intrusion into our privacy and I for one will not be voting until this logo is removed!

Mine wasn't showing. It was my choice to go into my profile and display the avatar. I chose to do so, but you don't have to.

"If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." -Rush, Freewill
As others have indicated, you may choose not to let others know that you've voted. |
No, the choice was made for us, without consultation or notification. It may be taken for granted that everyone on FT knows the ins and outs of profile-setting and these other arcane functions, but to impose a thoroughly unecessary "flag" goes against the very central principle of the secret ballot. That secrecy goes to the very heart of the decision to vote or not to vote.
As for posting on three fora, the issue was raised in the AC forum where I responded. As it applied to the whole FT community, I felt that was the more appropriate place to debate the matter. But wanting not to blindside FT Board members and other officials who may not visit those two fora, I felt advising them of my opinion also was quite appropriate for this forum. But again I ask: Who's idea was this? Was it debated by the FTBoard? Was it posted anywhere or raised in a more general FT discussion on any thread prior to introduction? |
