I personally think that at the point that it was actually decided that money was going to be accepted for the flag, it should go to Randy for approval, but Spiff is right in that you are asking Moderation questions.

That will not only avoid unintentional TOS violations but will also ensure that this decision is applied evenly throughout FT. Let's not cause this thread to be closed, please. |
Spiff, I am not discussing moderation policy. I am questioning what TalkBoard specifically had in mind when it passed this motion.
TalkBoard was presented with a question. TalkBoard presumably debated it. TalkBoard came to a unanimous decision. In general, I agree with that decision. It was not, however, very clear and I want to know the specifics of what TalkBoard intended. This is now part of the TOS and I want to be certain that I do not unintentionally violate the TOS. |

What you want is intent. It does not matter what the Talkboard's intent was. What matters it the motion that passed. |

I was wondering about the implementation of this announcement. Was it on 21 Aug when the TB took the decision or was it when the announcement was made on this forum or was it when the mods were informed or perhaps some other time altogether?
To take an example, does this new policy mean that threads like this current one would now be a TOS violation? And is the implementation/enforcement of this new TOS change already active? |

Before the flag issue arose, several people had questioned where they could send donations to help Israel or Lebanon. Others replied, citing specific charities (but not requesting donations). Would this still be allowed? Re par #2 and #3 - presumably if the poster was at arm's length, and simply offering a suggestion, that cannot be other than being helpful to those who ask. If there was a catastrophe somewhere that I felt like supporting personally, and several posters offered links to well established bona fide charities that were raising funds for it, I'd appreciate being advised who they were, and getting the direct link on how to assist financially. |
