Personally I think that anyone who betrays the TB confidences or has done so in the past should be permanently banned, but that's my opinion.

What I find amazing is that I have seen some of the posters above do unbecoming things on another bulletin board and it was not the tireflock one that is referenced above.

I should also like to remind some of the above posters (and you know who you are)that witch hunts such as this have gotten you all banned before.

Hfly, I have to admit that I don't know what you are referring to. Do you know of any TB confidences which have been violated by members of the current TalkBoard or does this refer to the days when you served on TB?

I would suggest that you let Randy know of any of your concerns about Talkboard members... if not comfortable being specific here.

He can, of course, remove any member if he believes they are not acting in the best interest of Flyertalk.

I recently became aware of some of the posts on other boards... and am personally appalled at what was written there. However, it is not my place as a moderator or Talkboard member to "legislate" how people behave away from Flyertalk. I do not have the energy or desire to focus on that. Besides, it would be a full time job... :)

We have to remember, as Randy says "We are all members first." If I post on a board outside Flyertalk, I am not posting as a moderator or Talkboard member even though I am both. People have to be able to separate the roles and the person at times.

WHarvey is right. TalkBoard should not be involved in legislating behavior on other bulletin boards.

At the same time, Kokonutz has a very valid point -- F/Ters should want to know what kind of people are representing them and what they are doing when posting elsewhere. After all, if JoeFrequentFlyer finds that he is being made the butt of insults and jokes by TalkBoardMemberA on another board, he may well not want to re-elect TalkBoardMemberA.

Members of both moremiles.com and tireflock.com have posted in this thread. In some cases, they are influential members of those boards. Perhaps they should arrange for both boards to be open to everyone, at least on a "read only" basis, so that FlyerTalkers can judge for themselves what is being posted and by who.

(I may be wrong but I believe that moremiles is already open to view but that tireflock is not only shut but has closed its membership rolls.)

Dov and wharvey sum it up nicely. I don't THINK I have ever made a sport of mocking other fters, and could not on the open-to-anyone and moderated moremiles, but I also know that I am not serious enough a person to claim to be representative of other fters. IF ft power-brokers ARE engaged in mocking specific fters for sport, then the community should know this prior to the next election. And I hope to collect a few more screenshots to keep 'em honest and/or blackmail the candidates when the time comes ;)

Well, the $1 per tireflock screenshot offer still stands, and another fter has offered a $10 bonus for a screenshot that features a TB member posting something derogatory about a FTer on another website!

I am both a moderator and administrator of MoreMiles, a totally open and public bulletin board, first developed as a back-up board for those time when FT was down, which happened much more often in the early days. Remaining positive and constructive has always been a primary goal of MoreMiles, and I can assure you that the very instant that anyone brings a post that makes a negative personal comment about any member of MoreMiles or FT to my attention, that post is edited or removed. If anybody finds any negative MoreMiles posts that I missed, please let me know and I will deal with them immediately. The attitude of MoreMiles toward FlyerTalk and its owner and posters has always been positive and supportive, right from the very start.

I am not a member of TireFlock but have been e-mailed screen shots of posts made on TireFlock by FlyerTalk moderators and Talk Board members, and, like Wharvey, was appalled that such disgusting posts were allowed to stand, and even thought to be amusing by the TireFlock crowd. It is unthinkable than any self-respecting FlyerTalk member would ever vote for these members if their posts became public, nor would they allow them to continue to serve as a moderator on FT.

I don't think this thread was about moderators at FT. Please let's make sure that stays that way, since discussion of moderator actions is not permitted. This thread was a question to TalkBoard members what their position is on actions by other TalkBoard members outside of Flyertalk, such as mocking other FT members. Whether some of these actions might have been committed by TalkBoard members who are moderators at the same time seems irrelevant. This thread is not to discuss moderators or moderation, and please, {edited - wharvey} Thank you.

Any screenshot of tireflock featuring fters slamming other fters gets you $1 per shot, up to 20.

As usual, this forum is not the vehicle in which to further your disagreements with other posters. Koko asked a question of TB members, and I think it was answered.

If you disagree with any TB members behavior on or off FT, it is certainly within your rights as a member to not vote for them. If you feel that their behavior on the boards violates the TOS, then contact the mods or Randy.

OK... I have followed up Missy's closure by deleting a number of posts.

I agree that the question has been asked... and partially answered.

However, as seems to be the case these days, no post can seem to stay civil for very long....

So, I went through all the Report Posts and took action on the ones I felt appropriate.

Now... back to your regular programming....
