Help With Travel Itineraries forum

Just came here from mileage run forum where another innocent, but guilty of not reading stickies, posted a question about a specific itinerary. Maybe we sould have a Help With Travel Itineraries forum?

Miro,

What type of help would you be looking for that would not be postable in the specific airline or hotel forum?

Just trying to understand the need.

For example: threads posted only today in Mileage Run forum:
PRG to BEG
Trip to China

All that in spite of the sticky on top of the forum:
REMINDER: Posts related to specific itineraries

The challenge, speaking as a moderator of the forum in question, is that a lot of people come looking for help pricing out itineraries. Those itineraries are not airline-specific -- people want help with the cheapest way to get from A to B regardless of airline. Those posts are summarily removed from the Mileage Run forum, as that isn't remotely the purpose of that forum.

I'm not opposed to the creation of a new forum for this particular purpose, as it would make it much more clear where such posts would go. However I'm not certain how effective such a forum would be -- I'm not sure how many people would monitor that forum strictly to provide pricing help.

I do agree with dmfriedman. There is a need for this forum, as I see requests like his examples in the Mileage Run forum daily.

However, people might not just visit the new forum to help others. I'd be willing to try though, as it would unclutter the MR forum.

This kind of scares me. There will be people who are just to lazy to do their homework dropping itineraries and whining when someone else come in and finds it for $2.00 cheaper.
