Town Hall

It would help a lot if you would date the motions that are posted on the Town Hall page, so we can see if they are recent or ancient history.

Linsj, you are right. This was discussed, in fact, recently on the TalkBoard and Spiff said he would date future votes and would attempt to find the dates of old motions and add them to the Town Hall.

I don't know, however, how easy that task will be. My own review of the past files did not come up with very many dates.

In this context, may I ask a question, when the votes about motions are published, is there interest to see who made which motion in the TalkBoard (right now, you just see who voted which way, but not who brought the motion and who seconded it)?

bigjim Dec 3, 2004 6:42 pm

Who voted which way is adequate for me.

ozstamps Dec 4, 2004 9:04 pm

linsj - I have also requsted this MANY times, and have been assured it is all being done, and will be done, and that no-one has any problems with doing it.

There is one recent motion I am awaiting with great interest to see posted to Town Hall.

ozstamps Dec 4, 2004 9:11 pm

There were weird techno issues outlined here before where some days the Town Hall would show details of WHAT was voted on, WHEN it was voted on, and WHO voted for and against. And then would oddly revert back to the "Lite" version.

That is of course normal committee/Board procedure, and I recall no-one had issues with that being posted on Town Hall in the interests of transparency.

Right NOW, all I see on a very recent vote is this:

Signature Lines

A motion was passed, 6 for, 2 against, 1 abstention to remove/prohibit signature lines as a free service of FlyerTalk.

No date, and no indication of whom voted for what.

And no indication as to WHEN this feature is to return, seeing the USA election sare now a distant memory. Or an indication that re-vote is even on the agenda.

Oz, I don't know why who was in favor and who was against was not shown (I have a feeling that it is probably just an accidental omission) but seeing as I was not on TalkBoard at the time, and conceivably there may have been some agreement not to publicize the information, I don't feel free to reveal it.

On the other hand, I know that Spiff has said he will post the dates of any votes (if he can find them) so I don't have any problem in telling you it was on August 16.

For future votes, which are more important than history, full results will be published.

Be great to see proper summary of TB discussions posted again here as was done so well only a few months back.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278998

That neat update covered 6 months, so maybe the time is about right? ;)

Spiff Dec 6, 2004 7:37 pm

Since we're currently voting on the Religious Travelers Forum, you'll get the date and the voting breakdown as soon as the vote closes.

Future votes will include this information as well. If there is a particular vote that someone needs a date on, I can try to research it for you.

There also seems to be some kind of bug that makes the pages revert to the older versions.

I asked in the Technical Issues forum to have a look into that:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=375335

There was one issue on which I was planning to make a motion, but I did not even get that far...

Spiff ... can you please advise what you get when you click on :

http://www.flyertalk.com/townhall/

As Attorney28 mentions that intermittent still is with us it seems.

Current TB member list I see is the old one with hfly etc, who were not re-elected, and new voted members do not show.

No recent motions at all have dates. Independence Air vote ridiculously says the vote was "yesterday" and the Religious and other votes are not showing for me at all.

Do others see the old or new version of Town Hall when you visit it?

Football Fan Jan 16, 2005 7:34 am

I get the old version when I click on the link. It seems to change back and forth.

gleff Jan 16, 2005 8:17 am

Old one appears for me as well, though I know it's been updated.

Neverthless I'm confident that this is not a conspiracy. ;)
