Personally, I think representation should be based on population. Just as the most populous states have the greatest number of Congressional representatives, so should the most most populous continents have the most TalkBoard members.

Did I happen to mention that Israel is in Asia?

Oz, I am sorry to tell you that under my plan the only way Australia would be given a seat is if it is combined with New Zealand, Antartica, Micronesia, and the more heavily-crowded areas of Brooklyn.

There is nothing more to invest, the Talkboard is a team, it's not like one member has more to do than the others.

There is a difference between "having to do more" and "wanting to".

Or are you trying to say people should be discouraged from being proactive and trying to develop ideas to improve this community further just so that the other members don't feel that they would have to do more?

Not at all.

So how can you then say "there is nothing more to invest", sounds like you wish to impose a limit on how much time others should say they are willing to invest?

Please describe the intention behind your post in an understandable fashion :).

Thank you.

As much as you'd like to sit down and work on ideas and discuss them, without the other members you'd be on your own. Every member pretty much puts the same amount of time in. You could very well post a great idea, but until you get input from your fellow members there isn't much you can do.

Of course there is no limit on the time you CAN put into it, but just like in any team, it's simply not possible to do certain things without the rest of the team.

I agree with that statement, but just like in any team, nothing will happen if everybody waits for the others to do come up with ideas and/or do something. (I am not saying at all that this is the case with the current members of the TalkBoard.)

Any team needs people who put more effort into developing new initiatives than people who just sit and wait what is presented to them.

I hope we can agree on that.

All I said is that I could imagine to be one of those proactive people and that I would be willing to invest time in that.

I hope you would not be opposed to that :).

Well, let me see if I can figure out what ScottC is trying to say.

TalkBoard is like Congress, you can do as much work as you want, talk among the members, research, create proposals, etc. But when the time comes to actually vote and present proposals, there is only a limited number of times that you can do it.

Unlike moderators, which are more like cops on the beat, we can do as much as we are willing to invest in FT.

Which I have been taking a vacation from 90% of my moderator duties

But who knows, maybe I have the whole thing wrong :p
