Where are the TalkBoard Procedures?
Last November, after the Talk Board Procedures were first adopted, I thought they were publicly posted. Now I can't find them anywhere.
Does anybody know where they are? Does anybody have a copy? Are they still in effect? |
Punki - I suggest you lose you penchant for this kind of old rhetoric in this forum - for now. The types of topics in this forum you have posted as of late make you a very easy target of a lot of members and I am finding it more and more difficult to defend you.
Bottomline - give it a rest for now. Public comments warrant public response in this matter, and I am very sorry for it. Really very sorry. |
Punki my beloved sister (or soon probably better 'daughter' when I reache 60 next year ...), please stop fighting windmills.
I love you Punki I love Don Quixote, and already half a century ago I learned that he (Don Quixote and Sancho Pansa) were quite happy fighting their windmills, but to no success at all in the long run ... I love FlyerTalk and I thank Randy for providing this/his board and to (try to, often successfully) take care of it and its posters. [This message has been edited by Rudi (edited 09-30-2002).] |
My beloved brother, Rudi, I love you too (thank you and your lovely bride for the hairspray--it makes me look younger already).
I too love Flyer Talk. I too love Don Quixote. I too love windmills. I love lighthouses. I loved my daughter's new rock opera, performed for the first time Wednesday night in Seattle. I do not, however, understand the mentality that produced the above responses. I am a very simple person who asked a very simple question which was prompted by questions that have been posed to me which I just didn't feel comfortable relying on my memory to answer. Appropriate responses to my simple questions would have been something like, "No, no and no" or "Yes, yes and yes" or any combination thereof. I am not so clever as you and do not usually have any ulterior motives (unless of course they have to do with finagling for gifts of jewelry). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Punki (edited 10-01-2002).] |

I've always felt the "business" of FlyerTalk should not be about the "business" of FlyerTalk.
It should be about programs and travel and the community that those 2 things foster. I wish Randy and his team would continue to run FlyerTalk as they see fit, and consider advise from whomever posts in "Suggestions" or emails them privately with suggestions. A good idea, is a good idea, no matter where it comes from. I trust Randy and his team know a good idea when they see it, and also know a marginal or bad idea when they see it as well. I've stated my opinion before and it's clearly been proven correct many times based on all of this "stuff"...Please leave "politics" (elections, representitives, bureaucracy) off of FlyerTalk! I hate to say it but it seems more and more to me like that old saying, "The monkeys running the zoo?" (Not directed specifically at the Board, but generally, if you know what I mean) Nothing but bad can come from it, as you can continue to see in these many threads. IMHO. I much prefer a benevolent dictatorship and am positive it would be (as it has been in the past) a much more efficent and effective way. The reason that FlyerTalk was different than other sites and newgroups is that that it wasn't a democracy! IMHO. [This message has been edited by PremEx (edited 09-30-2002).] |

Gisela, when asked right now, just confirmed ... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redface.gif |
Note to self: always remember that online communications do not always contain the same tone you mean them to.
Note to self: picking on the other person for not understanding what you meant to communicate is probably beside the point. For the record: 1. I am female. 2. In the context of Punki's comments on other threads in this forum, the opening message in this thread did appear TO ME to be aggressive - whatever the initial intent (in the sense of someone saying "Where's my baseball bat?"). 3. It's even more difficult to interpret when you cannot put a face to a screen name. There are many more of you reading this that do NOT know me personally than those who do. 4. I am not perfect. Not even close. Please do not allege that I have claimed this. Cheers, Irene, who will probably print this out in the hopes that she might not have to keep relearning this lesson :-) |
